The Anxiety Effect is a metalcore band from Northern Pennsylvania consisting of John Lockwood (vocals), Nick Freer (guitars), Mario Nobilio (bass), and Mark Wolford (drums). The band's sound stems across 2 decades of various metal influences, ranging from commercial successes like Lamb Of God, Chimaira, Tool, Sevendust, and In Flames; to underground acts such as Bleed The Sky, Stemm, and Once Pure.
Originally formed in February 2011 by vocalist John Lockwood, the band started out as a 5 piece regional touring act, often filling venues to capacity. Production for their first studio release 'They Anxiety Effect E.P.' began in August of 2011 and was officially released on physical CD and digital download on January 21st, 2012.
After a 2 year hiatus, the band would resurface in January of 2017 as a studio band, with no immediate plans to hit the stage. The past touring relationship the band had with UFC theme song performing artist Stemm would bring bass player Mario Nobilio to the fold, and the group started production on new music at their own studio.
On May 19th of 2017, their return track 'Lockdown' was released worldwide and on March 13 of 2018, their second single 'The Fall' was released. Both tracks were co-produced, mixed, and mastered by Ben Schigel of Spider Studios out of Cleveland, Ohio, who is known for his work with metal band Chimaira. The band's goal is to simply get their music heard, so all tracks are available to either purchase through top music service sites such as iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, and Amazon or they can be downloaded for free right off this website on the MUSIC page.
The band continues to write new material with plans to release new music in 2020.
